Steps for Human Body Template
Kid Pix

1. Open the Kid Pix Human Body Template
Copy and paste the Human Body Template into a new Kid Pix picture.
Note to teachers: To make a Kid Pix picture into a template, click once on the document icon, then choose Get Info from the FILE menu. In the bottom left hand corner of the box, make sure the "locked" box has a check in it. Students will be able to open it and Save As... but they won't be able to make changes to the template itself. When they bring the document up, it will say that it is locked. Just click OK.

2. Name your person.
Color the box under the person by dumping paint in it. Then, choose the typing option by choosing Type Text under the Goodies menu OR hold down the OPTION key while choosing the "A" (letter) tool. Click in the box you just colored and type in a name for your person. Remember to use the shift key to make capital letters. Some examples of names could be: Inside Out Boy, Skeleton Man, Ms. Body Parts, Liver Lady, etc.

3. Paint the body parts.
Dump paint into each of the body parts. What color you paint them does not matter. If you dump paint on an outside line though, you must choose the Uh-Oh man immediately or it isn't fixable. Do this for any mistakes you make.

4. Move the body parts.
Body parts are moved with the truck tool. Choose the size of square from the options along the bottom of the screen that best moves each body part. This will not work with the magnet option because that leaves an opaque white space around the body part. The parts must be moved in this order.

a. heart
b. brain
c. liver
d. stomach
e. lungs (one at a time)
f. intestines
g. kidneys (up and to the right - not on the body - only because there's no room.)

5. Color the background.
Dump color into the background. It is very important to move the body parts before you do this step. You may not use the Rainbow background or a patterned background.

6. Put your name on the bottom.
You can draw or type your name on the bottom. It might be fun to draw it in cursive if you know how. Please use a very light color on a dark background and a very dark color on a light background. Two medium colors are hard to see.

7. Color and decorate the person. (not too much!)
Dump color into the skin of the person and then decorate the person a little bit. Draw a face and hair. They can wear jewelry or have something in their hands if you want. Don't decorate too much or you won't be able to see the body parts and you need to save room for number 7.

8. Label the body parts.
Label each part along the right side of the person. Use the Type Text mode again (as in number one) and also use light colors on a dark background and vice versa. Spelling matters! The correct spelling is on the board. If you make a mistake, you can hit DELETE to back up and fix it but if you've already clicked off of the word, you have to get the eraser, erase the word, redump the correct background color, rechoose the text color, and then retype the word.

9. Save your picture.
Look on the board for saving instructions.
