The Task

Your task is to convince Sega Corporation that your city is the best place to locate their new facility.
In groups of three, you will each have a job to research information to include in a report on the city your teacher assigns you.  This report will help Sega Corporation in making their decision.
Each member of the group will be checking out websites for information in one area. Your report depends on having all the information so each member must do a thorough job.
Using the information from each team member each city group will then put together a report  to present to Sega.
All six reports will be presented to your class and the Sega Relocation Committee who will make the final decision.

The Process

First your teacher will assign teams of 3 students to each city.

Step 1: Tell me about your city.

Each team member will pick one of the areas below to research. When you click on the area you will find out your responsibilities and tips to help you gather your information.  You will also find weblinks to help you.

  • Expert- you will be looking for information to help complete the factsheet.
  • Explorer- you will be finding points of interest about your city. Find place visitors might go.
  • Historian- you will find information to help write a brief history of your city.

Step 2: Putting it all together

After you have gathered the information completing your job then your group will put the information together for the final report.

The report will consist of:

  • A fact sheet with information about the  size, population, people, climate, economy, culture, geographic features, language, heritage, and leisure activities in your city.
  • A hand created map and 2 to 4 pictures of the city to display.
  • A 2 page write up with a brief history, industries that are already in your city, points of interest and things to do. This will give you an opportunity to really sell your city.

Evaluation

Your project will be evaluated in four areas. Of course it is important that you complete the entire project  and that your information is accurate.  Equally important is how you were able to work as a group to get the information and produce your report. Your presentation shows off what you have done and shares your learning with others.
The table below will help you see what is expected and will be used to give you a final score.
